It's Been Sooooo Long...

It has been so long since I've posted that I opened the newspaper today and here's what I found, above. I thought that maybe I'd had a stroke or blanked out and had a really long dream or that Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox had abducted me and taken me back in the De Lorean to the past.

It's been so long since I've posted that I heard the C.I.A. asked Osama Bin Laden to help them look for me.

We are very happy with how our events have turned out and have another coming up this week so you'll want to catch up! Especially the following. Right on the heels of the yard sale to raise money for cancer research, The Pink Cabbage offered to donate furniture, fabric, and decorative accessories and decorate Charity's Closet, a second shop related to Success In Style. Here are photos from their recent grand opening where Mr. and Ms. Howard County did the ribbon cutting: Teen volunteers run the store each weekend. Check out the great teens and the fab decor.

And the ribbon cuttting and the following letter we received from the owner/founder of SIS... Hi Jody, The Grand Opening was a total success! I am so excited. We took in more than $600! This could prove to be a tremendous boost for SIS if we can continue the excitement as well as getting the word out. I cannot thank you and the all The Pink Cabbage creative geniuses, enough. Truly our little dingy storage room has been transformed into a chic boutique that many will enjoy. You all are incredibly generous with your time, talents and treasures. I know for generous people the reward is in the giving, but I do very much hope that greater rewards are in store (no pun intended) with an increase in volume of customers to PC. I cannot stop bragging about our partnership and am sure that many are now dying to shop PC. Again a HUGE thank-you, for making our store beautiful and having it ready for all to admire on opening day. I am beyond impressed and truly grateful. Jeannette

I Saw Red!!!!

I did see red! I know it seems like I'm late but I had done a post within the timeframe but itI wasn't happy with it so now I'm redoing it. Check out http://www.flickr.com/groups/isawred/pool/ to see who else saw red and how they saw it. Thanks for doing this Sara!

Matt's first school dance!

Friday night we attended Matt's first dance and, since he's a 5th grader, it was even more special. Please enloy these party pics of dudes dancin'...

Here's Matt with his tightest buds. "Our" Alec is next to him. You can see they are serious artists.

Group overview picture, there was a nice crowd but just enough so there was room for them to cut loose.

Good thing this kid has his back turned so I don't have to pix elate his face. It was too funny to watch. This little guy got fixated on Matt near the end of the dance and followed him EVERY WHERE. When Matt stopped, so did he; when Matt danced, he did the exact moves. This went on for almost 30 minutes. Matt was irritated but just tried to ignore him and didn't say anything encouraging or rude. Except maybe "the look". He was the Ever Ready bunny, he just kept going and going. It was such a fun outing; Paul and I enjoyed watching the kids have a great time and loved that Matt wasn't shy like we were at that age. He's definitely his own man.

The Pink Cabbage Strawberry Days a Huge Success!!!!

With sisters Jody and Marcie tirelessly working at the helm, we raised $1500!!! for The American Cancer Society last Sunday during the Great American Yard Sale weekend. The stream of customers was constant, actually starting on Saturday, as some thought it was then.

We had the cutest folks renting spaces for the cause like Patrice (The Patron Saint of Doojies and fabulous person in her own right!), below. It was too fun to turn the tide and buy from her; I got many goodies from her as did a lot of other lucky customers.

Below, Karen and Tammy are yucking it up; the atmosphere was casual and festive and full of life.

Marcie's giving Bruce a full interview; we are hoping to announce soon when and where it will be aired.

We had a couple of acres covered just like this...

...Jody even had to bat those beautiful eyelashes at the police who were going to ticket all these cars for illegal parking, it worked! No tickets!

We had the C.R.A.B.S. come by for a visit; Couples Riding A Bicycle Simultaneously.

Then there was the food. I didn't pull out my camera until late, as usual, and then was awfully busy with other duties to remember to take a lot but the lemonade and plethora of strawberry dishes plus bagels with strawberry cream cheese enough for an army.

And I made a new friend, Bruce Littlefield. What fun was he! He's written several books, two of which I ran home and purchased on Amazon. He's been on The Today Show talking about his Airstream book...I got that one and Garage Sale America...they are both so great and entertaining, as is he.

All in all it was a great, amazing weekend. So many customers stepped up to, yes buy fab things, but for a wonderful cause. Thanks to all of them and all the Pink Cabbage workers and customers that made this a successful endeavor for the second year in a row.
